A VPN for Tibia — what it really fixes, and what it does not
“A VPN for Tibia” is the name most people give to the problem of being thrown out when their connection changes. The instinct is right and the name is misleading, so it is worth separating two things.
How KickShield differs from a VPN
A VPN pushes your entire internet through someone else's server, usually to change your country or hide who you are. KickShield routes only traffic to Tibia's servers into the tunnel, does not change your country and is not there for anonymity. Your browser, messenger and downloads take their ordinary route at full speed.
Why an ordinary VPN does not save the session
A VPN does not give you a second link. When your internet dies, the connection to the VPN server dies with it — there is nothing left to carry it, so you land on the login screen anyway. KickShield assumes there are two links and moves game traffic onto whichever one is alive. The address the game sees stays the same, because it belongs to our node rather than to your operator.
What we will not do
You will not get around a ban or an account block with us, and we will not hide your identity. Botting, gameplay automation and taking over other people's accounts are absolutely forbidden, with no warnings and no negotiation — they breach both our terms and the Tibia rules published by CipSoft GmbH. We do not touch the game client either: no code injection, no memory reading, we route packets and nothing else.
What to use instead
If the problem is being thrown out of the game when your connection changes, you need two things at once: a second route to the internet, and the game not noticing it. The first one is on you, the second is what KickShield does.
